What We Do...

In the course of our search for God's will for our lives, the question often crossed our minds, "What will we do?"

At FamilyLife God doesn't call the qualified, but He qualifies the call.  When we signed on we had no idea what we would be doing, but we were certain that we would do what He wanted us to do!  Our call to ministry was certainly confirmed!

Since 1979 Mark had been involved in some aspect of the construction business.  Starting a construction company in 1985, he began contracting commercial retail construction and residential remodeling in older historic homes.  As a contractor he learned many skills related to construction, but also became well-versed in project management and administrative work.  The Lord must have had this in mind when He picked out the role Mark was to fill at FamilyLife!  Mark serves as the Manager of Facilities, giving leadership to the team that oversees the daily activities and needs of the FamilyLife office space including, safety, security, and mail services.  When FamilyLife built the current headquarters in 2003 Mark was involved in many projects helping to complete the building and this experience has been very helpful as he knows the building from the inside out.

Mark has also been actively involved in the event ministry of FamilyLife, serving in various roles for more than 15 years at  Weekend to Remember getaways and the I Still Do arena events.  He currently serves as FamilyLife's Red River Region Representative leading teams that serve areas of Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee with getaways and resources for couples, families, and churches.  At select getaways he serves as one of the speakers for the Pastor Breakout Sessions and at other getaways he serves as an Associate Planner helping to administrate the event so that couples who attend are served well as they enjoy the getaway. 

Michelle's work experience prior to coming to FamilyLife was related to retail sales, bookkeeping, and customer service - not to mention running a busy household!  She worked with Mark in their construction company, and having worked in a Christian bookstore before joining FamilyLife, she had a good understanding of how to meet the needs of customers who often have questions, but don't know where to find the answers.  Currently, she works alongside Mark as a Red River Region Representative helping couples and churches connect with FamilyLife resources and events.  She also serves as a Resource Center Coordinator at getaways and is a speaker at the MomLife Bootcamp held each spring.

Together, Mark and Michelle have the opportunity to travel and work at ten to fifteen Weekend to Remember getaways each year.  The Lord certainly qualified the call and He has even called the qualified in some respects as Mark and Michelle both are able to draw on past experience to serve couples and families for Him!
